When our client shared the elevation of this home as well as their desire for a modern farmhouse we were elated as the home screamed for the white board & batten exterior, black metal roof, and black shutters that the farmhouse inspiration dictated. We carried the modern farmhouse vibe right in to the kids spaces as well.

The neutral palette held true in the young boys room with just a touch of red. We also carried half-height shiplap into the space for continuity with a touch warmer than white on the walls above the shiplap.

He also has his own bathroom which we kept simple with a beveled subway tile above the tub.

We introduced a great built-in at the bed wall for our tween that will grow with her and allow plenty of opportunity for displaying her most treasured items. A touch of glam was added in the crystal beaded light fixture and gold sconces, but the striped cotton rug and textured bedding keep the space comfortable and grounded. The ever so subtle pink curtains introduced her favorite color, but don't overwhelm the space.

The landing at the top of the stair was to house an additional linen closet, but as there was more than enough storage in the home we took the opportunity to build-in homework stations for the kids with simple base cabinets and an extremely durable quartz counter. We added a touch of whimsy with the striped roman shades and classic bin pull hardware.
